A brief history of the mad world (Mumbai)

Image
Its been time that I have written a blog, but during all this time the experiences I had, I have no words to define them, but that could also be because my vocab is dumb fuck. Anyways lets get on with it. A couple of weeks ago, a friend of mine from Delhi asked me after watching a stand-up comedy video, what is this deal with Thane area? Why is everyone always picking up on that area? To answer that, I had to explain her the whole geography of Mumbai so it makes sense to what I am saying. So I thought il explain it to you too(not why everyone picks up on that area but in general about Mumbai), and after explaining that I will also write down the best places to go in Mumbai if you are here for a day or two, trust me I am overconfident with this subject, as I always tell people that I know more places to go than the people of Mumbai itself, and it's true! So I will start with a bit of history. I literally have no idea how much old is this place, but what I know is that it was or...

Advert-Tease-Tricks

Image
What attracts us? Brands. What helps us best in remembering something? Its visualisation… What grabs our attention? If you are a male, then its girls with good figures and if you are a female then, jewellery and accessories like purse and shades would do it. What we like? Emotions…temptations... But is it that simple to bring out an advertisement to make people aware about your brand and at the same time make it stay in their mind for as long as possible? Obviously not. To come up with an idea which might go viral or just fail like it was never created, is not that simple. But yes, there is a simple trick which advertisers play and that is to tease you, and this is what Advert-Tease-Tricks is about. The best way to grab your attention is to tease you with things which you either can’t have or things which would be like a pun to you. I may not have the right word for it but il explain with an example, Few days ago, I was driving back home and on the metro pillar, I s...

Business your own mind

Image
Ever wondered which is the most awesome power within your reach, which we mostly fall short of achieving…Still wondering? Well that means you possess that power, you just don’t know how to use it. It’s the human mind. The most complicated yet marvellous miracle working power machine, known, yet mysterious than the universe itself. We think we use our brain but it’s just the other way round. Thinking what I am saying? Well according to my experience and observation, whatever decisions we have taken so far in our life consciously, are taken by our sub-conscious mind. This is indeed ironical. Let’s talk about your behaviour with the last person you met today. Do you behave in the same manner with every other person you meet? I don’t know about you but my behaviour changes with every person I meet. It may not change the way I speak or how I speak but it would change the content of my speech without changing any switch. Sometimes we would do things we hate, sometimes we ignore things we...

Revenge of the fallen!!

Note: I am not a chauvinist, I respect women and love them. Please don't judge me, and you don't even have to agree with me, you just need to accept it..:p (I am a student of English honours, just needed to clarify that, so that you don't blame my education for the difference I would be stating between men and women in the society, as every text in the course dealth with women empowerment and ya Rahul Gandhi did not do Eng(h)). Anyways don't question me, ask your friend, boyfriend, brother, father or any other male about the content of the blog. There was a time when "women" were suppresed by men, beaten to death, tortured, killed and were treated brutally like animals. I know this is still not over yet, but here, I am not talking about rural area or even the middle age people living in the urban areas. I am specifically talking about the youth living in the metropolitan cities, where men and women both go to office, both party all night...

Be Practical!

Come on be practical, what will you get by reading this blog? It will waste few minutes of your time, as it may also lead to further thinking which will lead to further waste of time, so be practical and switch off this blog and get on with your "Practical" life. But do think about what does the word practical actually means? As per the dictionary meaning, it means concerned with actual use or practice. Actually let's just leave the dictionary alone, come on be practical, who looks at it other than finding long words which we not so often use or hear in our daily practical life. What does being practical means to you when you tell someone or hear it from someone? It is the most common phrase used by us. Did you became practical by not doing something which was not possible, or did anyone else told you the same so you just passing it on to your next generation? Well let's accept it, you only say it when the other person according to you is talking illogical, talkin...

The real cool dude!!

Image
Ever wondered how small things can make your day? A few days back as per my usual routine I came down to take an auto rickshaw to the nearest station, so I waved my hand to a rickshaw, without even knowing what am I getting into. So, while I was getting into this auto I saw that the rickshawala was wearing a biker's glove (you know those cool ones) and I thought he must be high or something. But, when I sat and I noticed a mirror just in front of me, actually when I starting looking around inside the auto I noticed loads of stuff like a magazine stand, newspaper stand, a fan, mobile charger, recharge coupons, speakers, list of emergency numbers, a warm water thermos and it was no longer an rickshaw for me, it was just something else. Just have a look at it...  And guess what, this dude even has a facebook page called 'Cool Rickshaw'. Just imagine! And one of the best quotes I read is below, that to in a city like Mumbai where without money you are nothing, but...

My way or the highway!

Image
This is the first time I am going to write about a movie I watched. I thought of writing it before but did not had the time and I also thought that may be later I would be able to connect with it in a better way. There was something intense, something more than a simple story to the movie, 'Highway'. A journey without a destination, a soul without body, a feeling without temptation. What I love about Imtiaz alis' movies, except our common love for mountains, is that how his movies take you on a ride from one place to another and its never the compulsion to move the story but the need of the characters to deal with the situation which moves the story. In real life that is what happens, there is no such destination which we think off. There is an illusion of accomplishment. We never come to know that what we always want to achieve, in a way we have already achieved that, probably not in the sense we thought but in the way it actually is. Highway told the story of two peop...

Mess-age!

Always thought you need to behave as per your age? Well the line you are just going to read, you might find it crazy but that's what happened. I had a dream this evening about me, walking around the streets all night and observing people of different ages, how they behave, how they react and the few teachings they gave me. This blog is only a part of that dream. Now just go back to the question I asked you, lets reframe it, do you always like to behave as per your age? or do you like behaving the way society thinks you should behave? who decides at what age what should you behave like? Why are you so amazed when a child replies back with a genius answer which you never thought a child of that age would ? Why do you get irritated when a adult behaves like a child? It all happens just because all these just do not fall into our preconceive notions about human nature.  The more we get sophisticated the older we get, agree? Just look at your grand parents, old aunt or uncles you ...

AAP ko chahiye MODIfication on Rahul Gandhi...

Image
From the title you would have understood what the blog is about, but you must be wondering why did I choose this title. Well the answer is, my key focus is on three things: Women empowerment Bringing youth into politics means opening up the system and making India the biggest manufacturing country. You still didn't get what I mean? Well I think then you should not ask me superficial questions. Oh, you did not ask any question? then I guess we should only focus on the fundamentals. I know you must be wondering what the hell am I writing. Well the same was my reaction when I saw Rahul Gandhi's interview. In ten long years Rahul Gandhi gives his first interview, that to a journalist like Arnab Goswami (sorry Rahul bad luck) who would not listen to your rubbish unless and until he gets his answer. We know Mr. Gandhi you came fully prepared with your speech but well that's the harsh reality, life does not always go the way you want it to. I also give exams a...

Lets learn some ADBC...(Apple Don't Be Cheap)

Image
I know most of my friends will hate me for writing this post, but still I feel its my responsibility to make them realize how genius, intelligent, smart and rich they are, but I don't mean to disturb those who don't use their mind and just buy apple iphone for its operating system and its features. This blog may save some of your money and is obviously free for all the above mentioned genius, intelligent and smart apple users not to forget rich. I know some of them might close this blog after reading the above line, as I mentioned its free so they might think its of no use or may be cheap.(Just don't tell them that Apple has been playing with their mind ;) Who knows what Steve Jobs had in mind when he was doing his innovation, which led to the creation of a brand very popularly known as "Apple", would he have ever thought that people would actually use his product to set their social status. Apple is one product who will even enjoy its customer loyalty eve...

Five star Dhaba!

Image
It will surely amuse me and at the same time will irritate me, when people will go to the Dhaba by CLARIDGES, because of their insensibility. Few days backs when I was about to walk into Dlf place saket, I saw a board (above in the picture) and I got so anxious to go to the second floor just to checkout its prices because I wanted to prove myself right, which I did. I know that's crazy but more crazier are those people who will be going to this so called Dhaba and with joy will tell their friends, family whatever, that they just had a lunch at a Dhaba, just because it sounds "cool".  Now lets get a reality check, you went to a dhaba, which was actually not a dhaba but a five star restaurant named dhaba. Now what is a dhaba? (the way it actually is and will be) A dhaba is indeed a restaurant but more in a village sense, found on highways, open air with few tin sheds, no guarantee of hygiene, only guarantee of good food and taste(the only reason people go there) wh...

What the FE (facebook empathy)?

This blog is completely coming out of frustration, irritation, anguish and out of a big curiosity. How the hell do you understand what I am feeling without seeing my emotions and sometimes even without emoticons and what if I haven't written the words above to describe it, would you have still been able to figure how am I feeling? If yes, then my friend you are suffering from a serious infectious problem called 'the Facebook empathy'! You are not my friend because I haven't tagged you in my status, even if I have, then you are not my best friend because I have tagged other people as well and even If I haven't tagged other people but just you and still I haven't replied to your comment then I don't care about you. Is it??? Or wait, I liked a friend status but not your, that means I am not your friend but even if I liked it, toh kya hua? everyone liked it...so commenting on it might make a difference. Is it? Or wait a second, here is one more, You came...

Indian Housewives Theory

Till the time you have a traditional Indian housewife at your home you don't need to be scared of things like recession. I may sound chauvinistic but listen to the argument you may find it to be a reality. Husband: Give me 5000 rupees from the locker. Housewife: you took 2000 that day and you didn't return it, now I want 8000 back. Husband: 8000? Housewife: Yes, 1000 rupees interest. Husband: Itna toh bank bhi nahi leta interest. Housewife: Toh bank se lelo. Husband: But why should I go to bank when I have my savings at home? Housewife: Are we still on the same argument? According to Keynes, one man's expenditure is another man's income, but according to Indian housewife theory my man's income is my income which turns into my husband's expenditure and the shopkeeper's income, i know it sound complex so lets keep it simple.  Whenever the world has been hit by recession why is it that the minimum loss is suffered by our country India? I am not s...

Funny story

Image
Its a funny relationship with the Delhi Police...sometimes we get angry on them, cry because of them and now we laugh at them. Sounds like a husband-wife relationship, the only difference...can't divorce.

Creativity is the soul of your body!

Image
What are the things which make you move or move you, any way you take it. Yesterday I saw a dance show, the name of the show was 'Dance Walk'. It was on a totally unique and creative concept, it was more of a dance enacted on dialogues, more of a story not than just an impression. In one of the part they showed how homosapians are different from mammals and how the behavior, the language came into play and the creativity with which dancers portrayed, it was outstanding. But what made me think was that the whole program was not sponsored or funded by anyone because the group comparatively new, organised by the youngest person in the group holding a very unique idea which may or may not work. So, they decided to do themselves workout things with their own pockets, artist worked for the art and not the money, photographers, poster makers, costume designers slowly slowly joined in and there it was one of best and the most creative show infront of you. But this post is not all...

Opening up the cage!

This blog is in continuation of my last blog (The invisible cage). I was very much intrigued to continue this topic after hearing what one of my seniors had to say about it, as we could see that it wasn't a topic where we move towards a sole direction. It happens in life that sometimes we decide to ignore certain things unconsciously or consciously, the way I did. In my last blog I mentioned a thing about Sita, that in our culture a mother prefer her daughter to be like Sita may be because she was less rebellious. But I would like to revisit that thought after a conversation with my senior, quoting his words precisely(as I couldn't find more suitable words), "When a mother tells her daughter to be like Sita, it is because they want their daughter to get the grace, aura, chastity and loyalty. They tell them to be so strong that you don't need a man to live your life and when someone raises a finger on you, be so strong and confident that you can prove them wrong and...

The Invisible Cage...

Image
Did you ever wonder what is that something which stops you? which limits you? which make you decide what is wrong and what is right? why we have stopped analyzing things in terms of black and white, why gray is the only colour we choose? let me put this into broader terms, do you see the cage, inside which we are living? the cage in which we are trapped under the shackles of race, colour, gender, nationality, culture, religion, education and what not. Each and every time there is a situation in front of us where we need to choose one path, do we choose that path due to our wish? or our family's? or our society's wish? lets pick up the most common example, a woman in our Indian society, why is there a time limit set to every girl by there family if she is going out, why do we watch them with eyes full of hunger, what changes are attitude towards a female gender, why one male with several females friends and one female with several male friends does not give us the same f...

Strange things happen with people (using the sarcasm), even after knowing what the truth is, people think they can make fool of others. The best and the most suitable example is our government. Setting the poverty line below Rs 33.40 per day in urban areas and Rs 27.20 in rural areas, means if I am earning more than Rs 33.40 a day I wont be able to enjoy the benefits which a below poverty line person would enjoy as I no longer stand as a poor citizen. Now, in a country like India where economy is struggling to grow, things are becoming more expensive, where inferior goods give us inferiority complex, there living with Rs 33.40 in hand a day does not seems practical at all, though there are some ministers who think a person living in Delhi can have his meal at Rs. 5 (and after that can rest in peace), I think they should have explored more options like going at a langarh and having the most awesome food for free. Anyways, the main point I want to show you is that if you reduce the po...
"Fear pushes you out of the door and desire calls to you, enticing you toward the rocks. That's the trap."-Robert T. Kiyosaki Please don't let money run your life, these two sentences kept my mind boggling because I could relate to it, I knew if I accept these two statements that would mean I am already moving towards the trap but if I would ignore them then I am already inside the trap. Most of the time we do our thinking emotionally without even knowing. Emotions which are generated through that very fear and desire and that's why most of the time we choose what we need and not what we want. That is why it is important to put your emotions to thinking and not the other way round, it is important to see the full picture rather than be a donkey running after carrot. Since our childhood we live in a close environment in which we hardly do any thinking. Our parents tell us to get good marks in school so we can get good college then get good grades so we can get ...
There are two kinds of people whom we encounter in our lives..the people who we want to change and the people who change us. In school except one or two there was hardly any teacher who understood a student, who i thought can actually teach us something. But soon i actually encountered teachers who thought me the meaning of life. My English teacher in my school, neha saxena, made me realise that i could actually speak normally and stammering was just a game of mind..my graduation teachers like sarin ma'am, Joshi ma'am opened my mind and gifted me a totally new world, a world free of race, gender, colour, hatred. But all these encounters did not stop after my graduation, i recently met a teacher in my mba who changed my life because he changed the way I use to think about life. Its never simple to drop an idea to which you hung on for so long but when you actually drop it, its like freedom. This all might sound to loud..to unrealistic but I know what i have been going throu...
